In December, Executive Chair Geoff Thompson spoke at the International Forum for Peace and Sport in Monaco. The Forum brought together the Olympic family as well as governments, NGOs, 2016 bid cities, the private sector and media. Its ongoing purpose is to discuss the issues, challenges and opportunities that shape the policy, delivery and resources targeted at areas where social deprivation leads to conflict. Olympic champions including the legendary Dick Fosbury, Kip Keino and Sergey Bubka were also present, as well as Sir Philip Craven, former wheelchair athlete and now President of the International Paralympic Committee. Geoff Thompson, non-Olympian, but five times World Karate Champion, moderated the final session on sustainability and the challenges for the future.
