PROJECT SUMMARY
Namibia represents the second largest contribution with regards to Southern Africa. As a legacy of the Vision for Sport Conference in 1993, the Youth Charter has visited Namibia on four occasions. Visits have seen the Youth Charter through the Namibian Sports Council contribute to the establishment of a social and grass root programme that reflects the ongoing challenges and opportunities of a similar post apartheid regime to that of South Africa.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The Youth Charter’s work included presentations and visits to schools, community projects with a needs assessment contributing to the Namibian Sports Council’s policy and strategic planning. Presentations were also made to both public and private sector agencies as well as international donor agencies such as Raleigh International who were making a significant contribution with a large number of students contributing to the work of the agency. The British High commission were also consulted. This saw a youth inclusion policy implemented by the Namibian Sports Council in collaboration with the Ministry for Youth and Social affairs.
